Boston Red Sox Ship Boggs to Los Angeles
Monday, February 1st, 1993
The Baseball News Network is reporting that Boston and Los Angeles have agreed in principle to a swap that will send 34-year-old 3B Wade Boggs to the Dodgers with 34-year-old 2B Tim Teufel, 25-year-old 2B Alex Arias and 27-year-old 1B Mark Lemke joining the Red Sox. Boston general manager Kevin Patterson would not confirm the trade, but a team representative close to the negotiations said the deal is official and is now only awaiting approval from the league.
In his career Boggs has hit for a .315 average and totaled 2076 hits, 91 home runs and 777 RBIs.
In 1280 career games, Teufel has put up a .235 average, collected 260 doubles, 25 triples, and 161 home runs, driven in 602 runs, and scored 588 times.
