White Sox Whitewashed by Guthrie
Friday, September 18th, 1992
A favor to his bullpen. That's what Mark Guthrie was doing at Comiskey Park today as he blanked the Chicago White Sox in a 9-inning complete game shutout.
"I went out there to try to eat up innings and help out our bullpen," the Kansas City Royals left-hander said later. "I felt I had my good stuff, and it turned out my command was solid."
Guthrie notched 10 strikeouts, surrendered 2 walks, allowed 3 hits, and kept the bullpen phone quiet all day long.
On the year Guthrie has worked 249.1 innings with 215 strikeouts en route to a 19-7 record and 2.82 ERA.
