Athletics Get Road Win, 5-3
|
Benefiting from Jose Canseco's productive game, the Oakland Athletics downed the Baltimore Orioles, 5-3. Canseco was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs for the Athletics. Derek Lilliquist earned the win for Oakland. He lasted 5 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on 8 hits, while striking out 0. With the win, he raised his record to 12-10. Bill Caudill converted his 44th save in 50 tries.
John Kruk, who finished 3rd in the UL in runs with 99 in 1989, helped out the Oakland cause in the top of the sixth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the first baseman went 1 for 4.
"It was a good effort all around," said Kruk.
The Athletics improve their record to 79-73 with the win over Baltimore.
