Tigers Clip Pilots 2-1 in DS Contest
The Detroit Tigers defeated the Seattle Pilots, 2-1 in Game 2 of the Division Series today. Earning player of the game honors was starter Frank Viola, who threw 6 innings allowing 1 run. The win moves Detroit into a 1-1 tie with Seattle in the series.

The result might have been different for Detroit, had it not been for Tony Fernandez. The shortstop produced a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Tigers ahead, 2-1. For the game, Fernandez had 1 double and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.

"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Fernandez.

Game 3 is scheduled for Friday at Tiger Stadium in Detroit. The scheduled starters for the game are Randy Johnson for Seattle and Scott Garrelts for Detroit.
